David E. Sims is a partner in the firm specializing in real estate transactions and commercial litigation.
Mr. Sims has extensive experience in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Sims practice focuses on the areas of commercial litigation, real estate and construction litigation, as well as closely held business matters. He has been involved in representing clients in real estate related transactions and litigation matters, shareholder disputes, title insurance defense claims, automotive supply and commission disputes, construction lien and bond claim litigation, commercial lease disputes as well as advising and representing clients in connection with restrictive covenants, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. He also regularly advises clients on issues relating to drafting and negotiating real estate, business and construction contracts.
Mr. Sims is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association, American Bar Association and State Bar of Michigan. He is a graduate of Michigan State University (B.A. with honors, 1985) and Wayne State University (J.D., 1988) where he was an Assistant Editor for the Wayne Law Review. He is the author of "UNITED STATES V. CARPENTER: AN INADEQUATE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF INSIDER TRADING," Wayne Law Review, Vol. 34, No. 3.
